Critical Role Season Four Unveils the Warriors Party

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a gripping narrative showcasing celestial beings, evil spirits, and malevolent powers increasing in power within the city.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 lie ahead.

The Soldiers Table Revealed

The third episode finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of heroes who will separate from the primary party to begin their independent quest, separate from the remaining groups.

The Soldiers table consists of the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).

The Reason for Division

With 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unworkable.

That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense battle-oriented story mode where non-violent answers are rare.

At first glance, figures such as the reluctant priest Wicander might appear out of place, but the events of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense initial meeting with the antagonists.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose death kicked off the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking the rogue, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his debts and ran away to a secure base in the northern region, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.

Individual Reasons

Secondly, each member has a specific drive to leave the city the metropolitan area:

  • The agile hero, as the close ally and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The adventurer has experience in the region and advises that it is a nasty location.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
  • But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could assist the team reach places they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that control the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • Thimble and The character are notorious outlaws.
  • Tyranny and The cleric defied House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
  • The target is marked for death by House Halovar.

This results in them little choice but to head to the northern region in search of the traitor.

Upcoming Developments

Based on the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the rest of the participants to form the Seekers and Planners tables.

Audiences can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
